BOOTY THERAPY
Booty Therapy is way more than a dance concept : it is a physical, emotional, and collective journey. We shake our booties to liberate ourselves, we shout to assert ourselves, we sweat to feel alive. Between movement, music, laughter, and letting go, each session is a safe space where all identities and bodies are celebrated. Inspired by Afro-diasporic dance, theater, and personal development, Booty Therapy combines energy, community, and creative power to awaken the strength that lies dormant within you.

Maïmouna Coulibaly – Artist, activist, director, choreographer, author, and community educator

Born between two continents, I grew up at the junction of cultures and rhythms. Since 1996, I have been dancing, creating, directing and telling stories that moves bodies and minds. Choreographer and dancer since 1996, Theater Director since 1997, Theater Writer since 1998 and Published Author since 2021, I conceive works where art meets activism.

My work explores le link between physical body, politic and memory, by building bridges between Afro descendant dances, theater and personal growth. In 2021 I published Je me relève (I rise up) (éditions Anne Carrière). I presented the TEDx "Women's body is a political tool" in Geneva and I was featured in New York Times for my one-woman-show Hot Pussy Show.
Why did I create Booty Therapy ?

I developed Booty Therapy based on my own experiences, my body, and my history. Since 1996, through my dance classes, I have seen how movement can liberate much more than just muscles: it opens the voice, restores confidence, and transforms wounds into strength.
Here, we don't just dance: we practice resilience, we express our emotions, we fully embrace our femininity or our feminine side, and we celebrate community in all its diversity.

Booty Therapy roots itself in the Afro-diasporic dances that shaped me : N'dombolo, Ragga Dancehall, and traditional West African dances. Over time, it has been nourished by Afro-urban influences from around the world: Coupé-Décalé, Afrobeat, Soca, kuduro, Baile Funk, Perreo, Amapiano, Shatta, Bouyon... Each rhythm carries a memory, each step an energy of metamorphism.

It is a safe space, happy and powerful, where every bodies and evey pasts are welcome. A place to sweat, scream, cry, laugh... and go back stronger, lift up by the energy of the community.
